On Top of Qingdao

I was going to write a clever little introduction to this nabe in Shandong, but I’m too busy concocting plans to infiltrate and overrun the government with hello kitty robots. I’ll leave that for a following post, but instead I come bearing these photographs from two different elevated vantage points. Ironically enough these photos make the place look small.

This is the Taidong area, and it smells.

The Koreans run this part, but I just moved in, so really it’s ran.

Remnants from the Mao days.

View to the west down Xiang Gang Zhong Lu.

View towards the place where they’re going to try and do some Olympic sailing. Take note of the group of buildings in the middle. 10 condos, all empty. I can’t imagine how much it must suck to be that building developer.

Northwestern view into the chaos.

Downtown Financial district.

When the air is clean, you can see the mountains, and yes today is as clean as she gets.

Density everywhere.

Across the bay to Huangdao harbor.

  2. Most of the places in those condo blocks are sold, and are undergoing decoration according to their owners requests.

They aint cheap places though, they start at 10k a meter2 - they are 70m2 to 260m2 - the higher the floor the more you pay!

I used to live next to them in Jin Hai Guan Chang
