That depends on what you define as “good”. If old britney and usher songs and a bunch of white and asian kids dancing awkwardly to them fits the definition, Lebang, Corner Jazz or LPG should all qualify as “excellent”. If hearing said britney and usher songs being performed by a filipino cover band is good, then try QBar. But really the only good thing about Qingdao nightlife is being able to get drunk for cheap and then blocking out all of the above.

Good to know you survived. Germans usually are kinda douchie especially when it comes to their beach towels. Oh and I should mention it, watch out for that owner of Jazz, he’s real sensitive about his weight, as in he’ll try and clock you if it somehow comes across, and his goons are everywhere there. Don’t trust em.

Hit up both this past weekend. The Germans were kind of douchie, but made friends with the manager Leo at Corner jAZZ. I MANAGED TO BLACK OUT BOTH NIGHTS, BUT WAS STEADILY NURSED BACK TO HEALTH THE NEXT DAY BY SEEDY MASAGE PARLOR ON MINGJIANG LU. apologize for the caps, but cant seem to get normal case. Please don’t get the impression that I am screaming my comments. Will definitely have to try the rockstar concoction at some point.

LeBang or Corner Jazz Club. Hedge your bets and hit both. For added effect, when at either bars, head to the nearest convenience store (there’s one 2 shops over from both) and buy a few bottles of 5star 56degrees. Drink that shit down like a man and you’ll be on your way to rockstar land in no time.

I have been stuck in Quaratine for almost the WHOLE TIME I’VE BEEN HERE. THE BAR SCENE SOUNDS TERRIBLE BUT NEED TO GET OUT AND DRINK HEAVILY IN A BAD WAY. bEING A CELEBRITY TEACHER ON CAMPUS ONLY FLOATS MY BOAT SO FAR. What can I say, yet another great honest review with “real” comments. Keep it up !

You probably already know but it’s worth a mention, the “Beer Gardens” you mention can have two kinds of kegs: Qingdao and/or Laoshan. The Laoshan kegs look like the Qingdao kegs, but taste like shit. If you can not read the writing around the top of the keg just ask the vendor what kind it is.

I don’t get this deal about the Russian hookers. I’ve been out pretty much every weekend in Qingdao for the past 8 months (and I go to to New York Bar and Corner Jazz a lot). I’ve spoken to a lot of Russian girls and none of them seem to be there for business. Generally speaking they’re just students and do not seem to propose anything to anybody. Or maybe they just target Chinese guys, I don’t know.

Anyway, the question is where, as an expat, do you score most easily with Chinese chicks? In Le Bang there are hardly any Chinese chicks to be seen. In my experience the best place is New York because the crowd is kind of mixed and you will have Chinese women in their mid-20′s and early 30′s and they tend to speak English. Corner Jazz does have good nights but generally speaking not. On Friday’s its definately the Le Bang crowd of German students that go there (the movement from New York isn’t nearly as big). I haven’t been there for a while on Saturday night but it seems like more Korean “ghetto-bitches” and “50-cent look-alike pimps” go there. Gee, if Koreans have the same attitude in general as the Koreans in Corner Jazz I’d never even want to set my foot there.
